Thanks, the photos are nice, but more text on knowhow is needed.
I am a conifer grower and read your information from Ryan Neal re damaging a latent bud so as to induce it to grow. I was there also and heard that. For many years have found that if you have a latent bud or want to get a needle pair to produce the latent bud at the base one uses a grafting knife or razor blade and cuts into the cambium at the base on the trunk side of the bud. A small nick is all that is required and the tree sets to to repair the injury thus inducing the bud to prosper. It works and is the same principle as the one suggested by Ryan Neal.
